  • 20 Year Celebration - A Success

Special thanks to the donors, nonprofit partners and community volunteers who made our 20-year anniversary celebration last month such a success!   Highlights of the event included a tribute to the board members that founded Placer Community Foundation in 2005. Attendees learned that PCF had grown from $3M in assets in 2005 to $27M today. Moreover, PCF supported 10 nonprofits with $50,000 in grants in 2005. We now celebrate some 400 nonprofits supported with $1.5M in grants annually, alongside free training and consultation. Special acknowledgement was made to Janice Forbes, PCF’s Founding Board Chair, who passed away before seeing her vision for PCF fully take form. CEO Veronica Blake shared, “Janice hired me in 2004. She was my mentor and taught me that tenacity, collaboration and creativity spark positive change. Her spirit, along with all the other founders we honor tonight, continues in our work.” Guests also heard from Hermán Barahona. In partnership with Latino Leadership Council and Sacramento Environmental Justice Coalition, Hermán is working to bring historically underserved voices into housing policy discussions. This effort is supported through a grant from PCF. Hermán shared the story of Mary. He spoke of her experiences with homelessness and the challenges she faced to secure a home and job that could sustain her and her child. “Mary’s story is about people seeing people as kindred humans and knowing that her struggles could be any of ours.  ReCreate’s Emily Carroll, Executive Director and Ravneet Kaur, Youth Mentor and Volunteer, both displayed and presented their S.T.E.A.M programming to inspire young learners in elementary schools.   Warm thanks to additional event presenters, the Auburn Symphony Quartet and Beats Lyrics Leaders J. Ross Parelli, Mirabel Knox, and Angela Rodriguez representing Kidzapalooza.  Special thanks to the following event sponsors:  Pam and Alex Constantino Robert and Stephanie Snyder Goff Legal, PC Placer Law Group, APC

  • New Endowment Memorializes Aldo Pineschi and His Years of Support of The Tommy Apostolos Fund

Placer Community Foundation is honored to announce the establishment of the Aldo Pineschi Memorial Fund Supporting Tommy Apostolos Fund. This endowed fund is in loving memory of Aldo Pineschi—an exceptional community-minded individual who committed decades to supporting youth-related causes in the greater Roseville area. Gifts from the community, combined with earnings on investment, will support The Tommy Apostolos Fund, a charity he worked tirelessly to grow in impact over the years. Aldo C. Pineschi, Jr., 66, was born in Roseville on December 13, 1957, to Claire and Aldo Pineschi, Sr. Raised in a family with a passion for community, local politics, and philanthropic service, Aldo’s upbringing was instrumental to his identity and colored his career and work ethic in the years to come. Aldo was the driving force behind The Tommy Apostolos Fund. This nonprofit organization helps struggling families afford clothing, school supplies, and other essentials. Today, the organization provides over 500 children each year with much-needed clothing, shoes, and essentials. Fund volunteers coordinate child selection with local school districts. Teachers and staff identify and submit these children’s names to the Tommy Apostolos Fund for consideration. Based on available money, the Fund then arranges the shopping event directly with the parent/guardian of the student. The goal is to help all nominated children whether through their Shopping Days or their new Kids’ Care Kits programs at local elementary schools. Help The Tommy Apostolos Fund reach all children in need! Attend the Tommy Apostolos Fund 35th Annual Dinner & Dance Celebration  on April 5th. Proceeds from this fun and engaging fundraising event support annual outreach and distribution efforts to families in need. Visit TommyAFund.com  to donate directly to the organization and learn about ways to volunteer. Donate to the Aldo Pineschi Memorial Fund Supporting Tommy Apostolos Fund  at Placer Community Foundation. Gifts to this endowment provide additional, annual support that grows over time through investment.
