Placer Community Foundation connects scholarship fund holders with local high school seniors and current college students pursuing higher education. Everyone should be able to get the education they need to achieve their dreams, and scholarships help make dreams come true. 

​

The Community Foundation utilizes an online system for all applications. Eligibility criteria vary by scholarship and may include financial need, merit, geographic area, or field of study. Applications for all programs are accepted annually, December through March.

Scholarships

PLACER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Al Saladana Scholarship​

For college bound Placer High School seniors who are active players on the boy’s varsity basketball team and going on to play basketball in college.​

Carmen Wilson Scholarship​

For students with exceptional ability and talent in the area of Art, Music or English who plan to major in one of these areas and are enrolling for their first year full time in a college or university.​

Ken and Janice Forbes Geil Scholarship​

For students attending a vocational/trade school, community college or 4-year college or university. Priority given to economically disadvantaged students and/or students with special needs. May be recurring up to four years based upon the student’s successful completion and continued enrollment in a post-secondary institution.​

Larry D. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship​

For students with a minimum of two varsity level sports, a minimum 3.5 GPA, and examples of extracurricular activities/community based efforts.​

FORMER NEWCASTLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Richard and Doris Sayles Family Scholarship​

For students who attended Newcastle Elementary School for at least 5 years who are enrolling in 12 semester units of college credit, or full-time in a vocational education program. Minimum grade point average 2.0. Priority given to students with great financial need.​

PLACER, DEL ORO, FORESTHILL, AND COLFAX HIGH SCHOOLS

John G. & Lillian M. Walsh Family Scholarship​

For high school seniors from Placer, Del Oro, Foresthill or Colfax High School or a returning or transfer student at Sierra College who resides in the Auburn area. Preferred degree or certificate in the following: Nursing, Fire Technology, Health Sciences (Paramedics), Mechatronics, Drafting & Engineering Support, Engineering, Welding, or Construction & Energy Technology.​

LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Ben Parra Scholarship​

For students of Latinx heritage from Western Placer Unified School District who are enrolling for their first year full time in a college or university. There is no age restriction on applicants.

SIERRA COLLEGE STUDENTS

A. Jerald Saladana Scholarship​

For a student who has majored in Theatre Arts at Sierra College to pursue higher education at a four year college or university.​

Roy P. Luna Scholarship​

For students transferring from a community college to a four year college or university. Priority will be given to students of color, emancipated foster youth, LGBTQ+ and those with physical disabilities.​

LOS RIOS COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT
