In September 2015, Placer Community Foundation celebrated 10 Years Bold, our ten year anniversary, by making a $10,000 gift to the community. With a grant to PlacerGROWN, PCF handed out one thousand $10 gift certificates to shoppers at Foothill Farmers’ Markets in Auburn, Granite Bay and Roseville.
We also had 989 entries in our 10 Years Bold drawing for a chance to have us give a grant to the winner’s favorite charitable cause from our Community Needs Fund. Jeff Birkholz, a PCF board member at the time, drew the winning entry of Barbara Dede, who selected Auburn Interfaith Food Closet as the recipient of the $500 grant.
“This special means of observing our history of philanthropy in the community is a good way for us to say thank you to members of the community while at the same time highlighting Placer County’s farmers and their incredible harvests,” said Veronica Blake, Placer Community Foundation CEO, “And it’s also an opportunity for all of those who love the Placer County region to learn more about the Foundation and what it means to give back right here in our community.”
