Meals on Wheels Receives Grant

Give NowGive Later

With 23% of Placer County residents being 60 years of age or older, the need for senior services that help homebound, frail and isolated seniors to be able to stay in their own home is growing. Meals on Wheels by ACC delivers meals to seniors at home who are unable to purchase or prepare meals on their own.

In addition to providing nutritious meals, this volunteer-based program allows local citizens to remain in their own homes as an alternative to costly assisted living or nursing homes. Visits by Meals on Wheels volunteers provide friendship, safety net services, and support to these often isolated seniors as well as peace of mind to themselves and distant loved ones.

Though the need is growing every year, the funding and resources needed are not. As a recipient of a grant from the Frank and Gladys Porter Endowment Fund through Placer Community Foundation, Meals on Wheels by ACC will be able to increase service in the community by serving an additional 3,000 meals, enough meals to serve 12 seniors for a year.
