We need leaders everywhere. A good leader should motivate, inspire and help develop those who report to them, while also making sure that the goals of the team align with the larger goals of the organization. This applies to those who oversee both staff and volunteers  Strong leaders empower others and make a positive impact on the work environment as well as those around them.

We hear lots of talk about “holding people accountable,” and that has varying degrees of success in the nonprofit sector. While vital for getting work done, I like to flip it to “leading accountable people” where people hold themselves accountable for the work they do. When something isn’t working, it demands a conversation (not a text message!) and an opportunity for everyone to feel heard. To that end, this session will:

  • Examine the importance of a fully functioning team and the role trust plays;
  • Experience common scenarios that keep teams from achieving great results;
  • Highlight simple tools to help you have those tough conversations so they can be successful, and you can sleep well knowing the work gets done.
