LEADERSHIP AND TEAM TRAININGS FOR

LOCAL NONPROFITS

NPI Logo cropped.png

The Nonprofit Initiative helps local nonprofit agencies establish infrastructure, governance and capacity building best practices, allowing them to build a solid foundation upon which to leverage philanthropy to the best advantage of their programs, clients and community. This completely free and vital support, delivered by a diverse lineup of regionally and nationally recognized presenters, is the bedrock of Placer Community Foundation’s direct support to local nonprofits. It plays a pivotal role in empowering organizations that contribute to our community's well-being.

In 2025, 136 nonprofits received this free training on a variety of relevant topics. Our annual Nonprofit Leadership Summit brings in national experts to speak on best practices for board governance and strategies to maximize greater community impact. The Summit draws 200 local nonprofit board members and executive staff, representing 50 different organizations.

Since 2017, Placer Community Foundation has partnered with the Center for Nonprofit Leadership, now housed at the Community Foundation of Nevada County, to administer this program. Through this mutually beneficial partnership, our organizations have worked hand in hand to strengthen the capacity of our local nonprofit community by offering high quality training that is practical and actionable. We are grateful to work with CNL on this important initiative.

The Nonprofit Initiative trainings are all so great.  I always walk away with new knowledge and increased passion to be a better leader and executive director for my organization.

The Executive Director Leadership Academy has already helped me grow leaps and bounds as a leader, even halfway through the program. I’m excited to see how this growth continues in the months ahead!
