Generations of Giving Back

Giving back through PCF is a Jansen Family tradition, marked today through Bill and Jenny’s recent establishment of the Jansen Family Fund for Youth.

Bill’s father, Bill Jansen, Sr. was one of the original board members of Auburn Community Foundation. His service helped the board’s eventual transition into Placer Community Foundation. In addition his cousin Elizabeth Jansen also served on the board and continues today as an Emeritus Board Member.

“Our family has always been community oriented and we knew our donor intent would be honored the way we wanted at PCF,” states Jenny.

Bill and Jenny were both raised in Auburn and graduated from Placer High School. Bill owned a service station for several years and then went to work at Placer Sierra Bank where he worked for 41 years before retiring in 2004. After they were married in 1956, they had 4 children and now have 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren! Jenny stayed at home while the children were small and then spent 20 years as a floral designer for Bryan’s Florist. She later became involved in the Assistance League of Greater Placer and her focus has always been on supporting our youth.

“When you have children you typically become aware of where the need is and we are blessed to be able to give to those needs,” Jenny shares.

Both Jenny and Bill are very passionate about kids and family. Utilizing their Charitable Remainder Trust, they opened the Jansen Family Fund for Youth, a field of interest fund which entrusts PCF to direct grants to impact youth who struggle through obstacles beyond their control.

Today, Bill is very active with the Auburn Rotary Club which he joined in 1965 and Jenny enjoys playing bridge with friends and volunteering with Sight Word Busters. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year! They celebrate a full and rich life, in which community is included as part of their family and is nurtured as their own.
