Honoring Faith and Values

Anne and Bill Thomasmeyer are givers. Whether it is time or financial support, they have always given to the community where they live. When they moved to Roseville from Pittsburgh to be closer to family and they opened the Thomasmeyer Family Fund, a Donor Advised Fund at PCF.  

The organizations they give to are varied, but the common theme among them is their focus on helping those most in need. As Catholics, Anne and Bill feel called to give back to their neighbors as an active way of living out their faith. They are members of St. Joseph Marello Catholic Church in Granite Bay, where Anne coordinates communications and social media and Bill has served as the president of the Parish Council.

Grants from their Donor Advised Fund have supported local organizations and those farther afield. In Placer, they have given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Roseville, where they volunteer in the kitchen, serving the unsheltered, and Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center. Their grants have gone to nonprofits outside the region as well, to organizations including the Carter Center, which focuses on advancing democracy and preventing diseases, and Water.org, which empowers people with access to safe water or sanitation through affordable financing. Anne recalls that Pope Paul VI once said, “If you want peace, work for justice.” Bill and Anne consider that the support they provide through their fund is their small way of working towards both.  

Anne and Bill often rely on the knowledge PCF provides to guide their local giving. In 2020, their fund supported the local Census effort, Placer Counts, which they learned about through the Community Foundation. Anne and Bill also gave to PCF’s Covid-19 Relief Fund and directly to organizations that worked to feed and shelter those whom the pandemic affected most. “We are proud to support Placer Community Foundation’s initiatives and we are grateful for the leadership and guidance they provide for our philanthropy,” Bill shared.
