Allegiant Youth Sports Fund

For Mark and Stacey Haney, Placer County has been the place they grew up, started their careers and raised their two children.

Throughout the years the entire family has enjoyed and remained active in team sports, so establishing the donor advised, Allegiant Youth Sports Fund at the Placer Community Foundation was a way for the Haneys to bridge their family’s interests with their desire to give back to their community.

Growing up, Mark played for the Roseville Bobcats Football Association, Roseville Little League as well as multiple team sports at Oakmont High School. As his two children Marcus and Ashley grew and became active in sports, he coached football, baseball and basketball, taking a few of his Roseville teams to the State Championships. In support of their son Marcus, who currently serves in the United States Marine Corps, Stacey volunteers her free time with Blue Star Moms—a group of women lending support and sharing their pride and devotion for the sons and daughters who have served, or are currently serving in all branches of the Armed Forces. Through this work Stacey is helping produce the very successful Battle at the Capital event held at Del Oro High School in Loomis. A two-day competition among Northern California high school football teams, organizers of the event have partnered with the Armed Forces to include a special honor for military families.

The Allegiant Youth Sports Fund provides grants to support sports programs for youth in the community. Mark Haney knows first-hand the impact team sports have had on him and his family. “They provide youth lifelong values of teamwork and discipline, which are not always taught in the home,” states Mark.

These days Mark and Stacey are enjoying the birth of their first granddaughter, Riley— born to proud parents Ashley and her husband Chris. The family also looks forward to the homecoming of their son Marcus.
